Collaborative Couples Therapy Treatment Option
During traditional couples therapy with one psychotherapist, one of the clients might think the counselor’s view is gender-biased and thereby interpret sessions as a two-against-one atmosphere. To help eliminate these concerns, my colleague, Dr. George Pazdral, MD, JD, and I provide a highly beneficial form of collaborative couples counseling and marriage counseling.
Opening Doors to Communication
Couples counseling in a collaborative setting works best when there is an evolving level of trust and wide-open communication, feedback and interaction. Efforts our clients make to put insight into action also enable and improve success.
Collaborative couples therapy succeeds for relationships that need only minimal improvement and redirection, as well as relationships requiring rescue-level intervention. Our marriage counseling and couples counseling are highly individualized to the couple-clients. We follow no specific program or formula, but have, as a result of our experience and training, a rich selection of interventions to help couples evolve to a richer, more companionable relationship.
The first few couples therapy sessions allow us to hear your individual stories and concerns, and understand what particular changes each of you desires. You are also evaluating us during this period to determine if we can help you.
We usually advise clients to commit to three months of weekly couples counseling sessions or six months on a twice-monthly schedule. We are sensitive to the expense this entails in time and dollars. However, anything less does not offer realistic possibilities for permanent life changes. Our therapists have very interactive styles and vigorously attempt to move couples therapy treatment forward to achieve the changes you desire.
We provide MasterCard, Visa and Discover credit card services to enable clients to budget for their psychotherapy treatments. Please call to discuss your situation and learn how best to proceed.
